Melbourne, Australia Day 1 - Arrival 15/05/2012 ~ This Melbourne flight ticket were purchased last Year on August during Air Asia promo. Finally on 14/05/2012 the day came. I admit i am excited for this trip. Our flight schedule is on 21:30pm on 14/05/2012. So we will arrive at Tullamarine airport approximately around 08:30am on 15/05/2012. It is an 8 hour flight. I am not a heavy sleeper, even at home it will take sometime for me to fall asleep.. so during flying i can't sleep. i only sleep for like 20 minutes and it was damn horrible.
I fell asleep like 10 minutes and then woke up again and i realized it was already dawn. It was beautiful to see the phenomenon of Sunrise. At the moment you see stars scattered and the suddenly it getting brighter with glimpse of sunrise. I manage to take photo of it but it didn't really came out good :( i know when you look at the photos, it wasn't really something..) but if you look it with your own eyes.. it is breathtaking.
After passed the immigration check out we went to Skybus booth to purchased the bus ticket. We took the return ticket. The return ticket will cost you about AUD28. The skybus will take you to King Cross station and you will have to change for a mini hotel transfer bus to transfer you to your hotel for free.
We stayed at Space hotel (AUD 30/pernight). It's a good hotel. It's more like backpackers hotel. First we decided to stay at Greenhouse backpackers but then we decided to try Space Hotel. Space Hotel were formerly known as Victoria Backpackers but has been renovated and renamed as Space Hotel.
After Check-in, we decided to go out and stroll along the city. Victoria Market is our first destination. We walked from Space to the market about 1KM away. But we don't mind because we get to see the city by walking.
I love victoria market. we haven't got a market like this back at our hometown. So it was quite an experience.
We went to Borek stall (Turkish stall) and i bought myself some Spinach and Cheese Borek (AUD2.50). i also bought Kofka (AUD3.00) and packed in my backpack for snack while walking around the city. My travel friends got themselves Spicy Potato & Veggie Boreks and also Toasted Zucchini. They're all delicious.
The market have various section from seafood, meat, vegetables and retails section. It also provide food court.
We left Victoria Market because it's almost closed. So we went walking around the city. It was Autumn Season when we arrived. It was cold. I underestimated the Autumn weather in Australia. I thought Autumn in Melbourne isn't that cold but i was wrong. or maybe because my homeland never had any cold weather (warm through out the year) and that is why i am a bit excited for cold weather even though it feel uncomfortable.
Then we hop-on the city Circle Tram (it's free. The tram came with Maroon color Route No. 35). It goes around the city but not to every pit-stop.
After that we went back to the hotel to pay back our sleep debt for tomorrow activities.
