~ Melbourne trip (Again!) - Tessalaar Tulip Festival, Silvan Victoria (20 Sept 2013)
Even this is my 2nd time to Melbourne, but i didn't get a chance to go to Tessalaar Tulip Festival last year. It is because The festival is only during Spring time somewhere between September - October. So, i went on September this time and yes, i get to be at the festival. Fortunately on my week of arrival The Festival is under Dutch Week theme. So it is like being in Amsterdam (well not really..) hahaha.
We headed to Flinders St Station. We walked there and passed by The famous State Library. My Colleague asked me to stop-by to snap some photos as this is the first time she been here. So i took opportunity to snap (again) some photos.
We went to Silvan by Metrolink but we have to stop at Lilydale first and take a bus to Silvan. We bought a ticket on Zone 1 & 2 because Journey to Lilydale is situated between Zone 1 & 2. We use MyKi ticket pass. You can use this with buses and tram too. When we arrived at Lilydale we have to take a bus to Silvan. We took no. 663 bus which is stated to go to Belgrave. How do we know this? We asked people around :) It's a bit tricky because none of the Bus stated Silvan. Journey to Silvan took approx 25 minutes. On the way my colleague and i was skeptic because we feel like that we had been in a bus for quite so long and we didn't even see any Tulip field or signboard. But then we heard someone asking the bus driver to stopped by at Tulip festival. So we just wait and followed them hehehe.
Around 10 minutes the bus stop at the middle of nowhere. We still had this curious feeling (is it here?) then i look at left side of me and i saw beautiful and colorful tulip fields. Feeling excited, then i heard the driver said "Tulip Festival, everyone". To my surprised half of the citizen in the bus climbed down hahaha.
Sharing Photos (Warning: You might Barf with so many Tulips Photos)...
Already feeling nausea's with Tulips? Bad news... there's more to go hahaha
There are some unique Dutch Delicacies such as Dutch Poffertjes (Somekind of Donut) and Belgian Potato cakes and some others. Also there are lots of Dutch Iconic souvenir and The famous Clog.
Somehow i ended up having Veggie Pad Thai :). I found a friendly Thai Food Stall and well, as a fans of thai food that Veggie Pad thai was somekind of calling and begging me to taste them. Furthermore it is cold there. It will be great to have something spicy :))
I forgot to tell you that the entrance of Tessalaar Tulip Festival cost only AUD20. It's worth it if you never had any tulip fields at your country. The best thing is that Beautiful scenery and the people there are friendly.
