Melbourne, Australia Day 2 (Part I) - Great Ocean Road - Road trip 16/05/2012 ~ today we are going for the Great Ocean Road, Road trip. We decided to DIY driving from the city through Great Ocean Road and spend a night at Port Campbell. We rent a car from 'Rent New Car' website and it was actually co-operated with Thrifty. We booked a Mitsubishi Outlander and a GPS (AUD240 for 4 days) but we pay for AUD48/each because we devided that by 5 people. So, it's a bargain right, huh? My travel friend did everything for the booking. So at 08:30 we walked from Russel St to Elizabeth St to pick up our ride. It only took us about 6 minutes to get to thrifty. After finished dealing with thrifty around 09:30am, off we go with the road trip.
We stopped by for gas (petrol). The day seems so bright but it was freakin' cold. We bought ourselves some hot choc too. After that we continue our journey.
We arrived at Torquay the Start of Great Ocean Road. The road there suddenly change to different scenery. We started to journey through trees and wooden land. Somehow i love it. We decided to stopped by at Bells beach. We didn't see any sea or beaches yet while we were here and since we were driving from the city.
So, we saw the bells beach signboard and we drove over there. At that time we were curious because We didn't see any sea or beaches when we took the road there (and since we were driving from the city) but we keep on driving with a guidance from the GPS and then suddenly we saw a blue coloured ocean infront of us. Everyone was in awe "WOW" position hahaha. Bells Beach is famous for surfer. I saw some surfer in the water and i went like "are they crazy??? it's freezing!!!"
We left Bells beach to continue our journey. After we left Bells Beach we started to see ocean and beaches along the journey. We stopped by at Angelsea to have our lunch at the Fish N Chips restaurant. I had Whiting Fish Burger and others had snack pack (Battered fish, prawns, calamari and fries). After that we mingle around the town. i love the town, it is small and calm. Went to their supermarket and bought some food to cook at the hostel at Port Cmpbell or at Geelong for tomorrow.
